Pennsylvania is a state located in the Middle Atlantic region of the United States with 51 miles of coastline along Lake Erie and 57 miles of shoreline along the Delaware Estuary.

For the history-loving retiree, Pennsylvania may be the place for you. In Philadelphia, there’s the Liberty Bell, Elfreth’s Alley (the oldest residential street in the country), and Independence Hall (where the Declaration of Independence was signed). Harrisburg, the state capital, boasts the National Civil War Museum and the State Museum of Pennsylvania. Gettysburg offers numerous tours of famous Civil War battle sites and historic homes. With skiing in the Pocono Mountains, kayaking or canoeing on the Clarion River, fishing in one of countless streams, and hunting in Allegheny National Forest, there is definitely no shortage of outdoor activities for the adventure-seeking retiree.
